Was he just joking around?
I just want to say I over analyze and over think everything. Which I know I am doing with this as the context it is in, but I guess sometimes I need/want reassurance from the outside.
My boyfriend and I have been together for over 2 years.
Today, we were talking on the phone, and we are planning to book a cruise soon for December of this year. He was saying how excited he was, and I was too, and that I will be more when it is official. He then says, Yup, and then I can't break up with you for 6 months. And I said, oh thats good thats what you are thinking about, makes me feel good, and he said yeah, and then moved on.
I feel he was trying to make a joke, but it bothered me, but I let it go. What do you think??
He is sometimes very serious in his joking and I don't always catch on...somethings go over my head
I think I am just going to talk to him about it tonight when he calls me. As I think it is just going to keep bothering me.
Coleen- We are both paying for it, but he is paying for more like incidentals on the ship, a hotel room before and after, excursions, transportation. But on an regular basis he pays for things all the time, I rarely ever do, he usually doesn't let me.

My boyfriend is the EXACT same way, and I would have answered it the EXACT same way you did. So I asked my boyfriend. He said this "if hes paying for the cruise, he is joking around, if he isn't paying for the cruise DON'T take him".
Yes, my boyfriend is the same and yes, a LOT of things go right over my head too. you should deff re-evaluate your relationship. My boyfriend said that if he wasn't paying for an awesome fun cruise, then yeah he'd deal with 6 more months of it because he benefits from it, especially if its cheap or he isn't paying.
Okay He must have definitely been joking around with you. I hope you both can work through this and let him know his joke hurt your feelings a bit and let him reassure how much he does care and love you! =] Good Luck!

After 2 years of dating, you should know whether or not he was joking and/or serious. If, he was truly joking, you shouldn't be so insecure. If, there were some truth to it, you should rethink the relationship.

He was joking. Unless he is straight forward, he wouldn't just say that. Don't let it bother you, and if it continues too, ask him about it.
