why is my HDD like this?
ok ....my computer was infected with a horrible virus that my Norton couldnt even touch...everytime I scanned this thing would shut the whole computer during the scan.....it shut down all my firewalls....and gave me a Blue Screen of Death........when I restarted my computer computer everything would seem normal....but my HDD would start making this weird noise like it was stalling....then it would freeze and of course the blue screen would come up.....
I sent my computer in to get repaired...and when it came back everything was clean....but for some reason it was still stalling.....like there no blue screens or nothing but it would stop for 10 seconds and then start again......I decided to install Windows 7 but as an upgrade....which was a terrible idea....upgrade is just basically pasting the Windows 7 shell over Windows Vista...everything Vista is still there.....
ok so back the to the issue.....My HDD was still stalling....even after the freaking upgrade....so someone told me I should Format my HDD and do a clean Windows 7 install.....So I did.....
Here I am today......piece of s*it is stalling!!!!!!....
did this thing physically damage my Hard drive?!?!.....
can you explain "bad hard drive"?
it works....it just stalls....bad sector? damaged platter?
yea....about my HDD manufacturer....it sounds like a cheap brand...its the default one that came with my laptop....a Hitachi....
im thinking of upgrading to a WD Scorpio Blue...

It sounds like the hard drive is definitely failing, but it is only a coincidence that it had a virus at the same time. Your next step should be to find the manufacturer of the hard drive (Seagate and Western Digital are the most popular), and try to warranty the hard drive through them. Searching 'Warranty' on their websites should lead you to a form/warranty checker.
The warranty on a hard drive is usually 3-5 years, but there are usually upgrades available, even if the drive is out of warranty.
Edit: If the drive is actually making a sound (clicking, dull scraping, etc.), it most likely means that the read heads are coming into contact with the platter itself.

No virus yet is capable of hardware damage (but you might have a bad hard drive!)
