How do I disable the air conditioner in a 2006 Ford F150 truck without causing damage?

The A/C has been out in my car for about three years now. My husband thinks I should be able to drive around like that. Oh...and we have a three year old child and live in South Texas. I want to find a way to remove a fuse or something so he has to drive around in his truck with no A/C to see how it feels, but I don't want to mess up anything. Can somebody provide a link or tell me exactly what I can do to just disable it and not break it? Please no sarcastic answers. Thanks in advance for your help!

Most automotive AC systems have safety cut-outs that disable the system if it's under pressure, [in need of service]. So even if you set the control to AC it won't engage and turn on.

If the compressor is making noise, typically there's a way to unplug the unit and disable the clutch, [which is coupled to the compressor].

there should be a fuse for the ac. just pull it out and it won't work. Or you can unplug the wire that goes to the front of the ac compressor. You will get your point across to him alright. very Hot and sticky in south texas.

Hmmm, feuding with the husband eh? Well, if you want to simply disable his A/C then you can unplug the wire connector that goes into the compressor. If you husband doesn't know anything about cars, that might take him a while to figure out.

If you do not want to use the ac . Replace the belt with one that fits a model with out air. An when the new belt is installed it will not run the pulley on the A/C compressor .

Seems a little evil but sometimes it needs to be done i guess.

Email me at kormanmike@yahoo.com and i will send you diagrams and how to instructions to disable it without causing any damage. I would post them here but it won't let me post diagrams.
