I dont get it at all!?
We all know the great sport Football or soccer here in the USA
but i recently moved to the US from Asia
Asia is always hyped to watch football
but in America, not so much
-----however, i know sooo many people in the USA who play football even in Amer. Football states
-------but yet why is Amer. Football and NBA still topping most sports fans in USA
the USA football team is now pretty good, and is getting better, yet USA citizens still would rather watch NBA or NFL or etc.
so if there are so many football supporters in the USA, why is NFL/NBA still topping football?
futbol is spanish
football es ingles

Culture dude. The United States historically does not promote soccer.

Ok man in America football is guys with a ball shaped similar to an egg covered in pigskin with pads that have a variety of skill sets such as throwing, catching, kicking, blocking, and tackling...SOCCER,on the other hand,is what I believe you are referring to where as players have less variety of skills revolving around doing technical things with a spherical shaped ball, but like I said less diverse than football..But with that being said I think both sports require great skill but i have to lean to football being more interesting thus it draws more people to watch it soccer loses excitement in a lot of points during a game whereas football has constant action rather it be from a big hit, great catch,or long touchdown run...but soccer consists of mostly passing the ball most of the game and every few minutes after kicking the ball back and forth someone takes a shot and occasionally making it....so that is what I believe

What we call football is nowhere near the same sport as what you call football. Your version is called soccer by us.
Whereas soccer flows continuously, football stops after every play. In essence, our version is more like a chess match using bruising hulks and fast littler guys as pieces. American fans like it that way; a fact that shows when ratings are considered.
Football and basketball have replaced baseball as our national past time with sports such as track & field and soccer way down the list in popularity.
There are more Dads passing on fanatic devotion to football and basketball down to their children than other sports and the final consideration might very well be that a young man who excels at either of these sports knows, if he is good enough, he will make a fortune. Soccer does not offer such a reward as an incentive for recruitment.
With millions of former players turning on their TV sets to watch others play a game they once excelled at, it is easy to see why soccer lags behind for American fans. It is exactly the opposite in most other countries of the world. You become whatever your predominant thought is. That is precisely why football ,as we know it , and basketball are more important to the American fan base.

Nobody here watches soccer, because NFL reigns supreme. Soccer is just a boring sport in the US, because we were raised watching full speed, full contact football, and we aren't fans of 0-0 and 1-0 games. That's why hockey isn't popular here either.

The NFL is so popular in the United States because, like you said, Football is very popular here in America. Basketball, hockey, and baseball are also very popular in America. Soccer, not so much. Maybe if they put soccer on tv in America people would care about it.
