Atheists/Humanists/Secularists: You only have 1 life, so therefore it's important... circular reasoning?
Some of the answers and responses I see on here in response from atheists/humanists/secularists about why `we as humans are important` or `what is our purpose in life` or` why are we here` shape up like this...
Q: Why is this life important?
A: Because this is the only life we have
Still cannot see from this how this would differentiate us from the one life other creature have or the one life a specific plant may have.
Thanks a bunch.

You're nothing important.
Self importance is something that is conjured by the big egotistical brains of humans. What makes us "special" is... as far as we know, intelligent life is rare & takes a long time plus the right conditions to evolve. So if you happened to be one of the so called "intelligent life," make the best of it.
Simple.

That's not circular reasoning. Circular reasoning would be:
"X therefor Y"
"Y therefor X"
This clearly is not circular reasoning. It's not even an argument or a claim. The answer to this question is purely subjective, and that specific answer has no logical flaw.
"Still cannot see from this how this would differentiate us from the one life other creature have or the one life a specific plant may have."
Why would it? That's not the question you asked.

''Still cannot see from this how this would differentiate us from the one life other creature have or the one life a specific plant may have.''
Why should it? We're just one of the millions of species in the animal kingdom.
What makes you think we're so special? And that our life should have more importance or significance than the life of other animals?

I do not see that this is circular reasoning. My life is important to me because it is my one opportunity to be happy. I have enough respect for other people to see that this makes their lives important too. I think this is also the case for some other social animals, which mourn the death of other members of their group. Plants are not sentient, so I do not think this applies to them, but judging the importance of life for the species in between theses extremes is difficult.

My answer is that we are here, like every other species of animal on the planet, to pass on our genes and therefore perpetuate the species. It is actually incidental that we have the great and wonderful ability to try and enjoy our short time on earth.

whilst some thing, jointly with gravity, consistently happens in a uniform vogue the repeat tests for it are seen to help the certainty that it does in certainty take place. you basically would desire to drop an merchandise to help gravity as an theory. those helping issues are called data, and until eventually you're telling me dropping an merchandise does no longer help gravity then data exists.

I'm not worried if i'm dead, because i will be part of the Earth,
We are the cosmos becoming conscious to get to know itself, that is the most logical reason I can think of.
