Whatever happened to drill baby drill?
A strange silence emenates from those who were so rabid to drill in the ocean for oil. I don't have a horse in the race. I believe that both political parties in our country are barking up the wrong tree, but I am perplexed and dissappointed in the hate that comes from uninformed citizens.
You just can't cure stupid. To continue to desecrate our planet for short term gain is simply stupid.
I can't wait for the stupid and uninformed to respond to my question.
p.s. Palin is 100 times more stupid than is Dubya.
I have no objections to drilling on land. I have no objections to drilling from land into the ocean...a technology that exists and is viable.... I do have an objection to drilling where we cannot correct mistakes. This global oil disaster illustrates why all should oppose such deep water drilling.
We have oil shale and untapped reserves on land as evidenced by the recent find in N. Dakota.
I repeat. One cannot cure stupid. I am not into making fun of people, but I reiterate that I look forward to the stupid and uninformed supporting their drill baby drill mantra.

This isn't really a question. It's more of a statement against offshore oil drilling. However, I completely agree with you. I also thought of that idiotic Republican war cry when I first heard of the oil spill in the Gulf. I hope this means the beginning of the end to offshore oil drilling.
Here are some clean energy alternatives:
For cars: ethynol, hydrogen
For homes: wind, solar, natural gas
I'm sure scientific research will come up with more alternatives.

You talk about hate from uninformed citizens, yet your post is full of sarcasm, cynicism, and degrading remarks about your fellow Americans. Way to be a hypocrite.
Drilling in the ocean is fine, as long as the appropriate safety measures are in place and are being followed. Drilling didn't cause the spill in the Gulf. The lack of adequate safety measures, inspections, and proper emergency planning all led to this catastrophe. Refusing to drill for oil now is like refusing to cook because you burned your hand.
For the record, I would prefer that we drill in Alaska. It's safer and "accidents" are easier to contain and correct.

You're too funny. You criticize President Bush and Governor Palin - but take West Texas Crude and Alaskan oil OUT of the equation....and when you're paying $8 a gallon, don't cry big girl.

Still makes sense unless you like $8 gas. Sure, better safety measures need to be undertaken, but that would happen without regulation anyway. BP is on the hook for so much money, it's self regulating. They'll fix what needs to be fixed and get on with it. The question is, does government have enough good sense to get out of the way?

We need to force banks to invest in green energy. Or dependence on oil is a national security issue.

And what might you propose, I don't want to pay 6 to 8 dollars a gal. for gas, we have to drill and look for alternatives, and why not natural clean gas, we have a hundred years of it, in America. What's your solution?
