What is a lipstick that does not dry out your lips?

I don't wear lipstick very often; just on special occasions. However, I pretty much CAN'T wear lipstick even for a couple hours for that because it dries out my lips so much. I've tried several different name brands, the typical ones like CoverGirl, Maybelline, etc. but they all just dry them out!

I do have dry lips in general, but I just keep Chapstick handy and that does the trick fine. But it doesn't work with the lipstick on.

I guess I haven't tried every type in each brand, but it gets expensive trying all these lipsticks!

So, does anyone have the same problem but found a very hydrating lipstick out there that works for you?

Thanks!

Update:

Edited to add that I have tried putting lip balm or moisturizer down first. It feels great right away, but quickly goes back to the same ol' problem. I also have tried the Covergirl (I believe it is) that has the separate moisturizing stick you can re-apply. So far this has been my best results, but still not any good by far.

I love revlon moondrops lipsticks and Loreal color riche lipsticks, because they're not as drying. Also, if you have the cash, there's a lip balm called Fresh Sugar that you can get at Sephora that is available with pretty tints. It feels fabulous, looks nice, treats your lips while you're wearing it, and the packaging is beautiful (which doesn't do anything for you, but it IS nice!) In fact you might do better with tinted lip balms anyway.

    Good luck!

LOOOVE cover girl outlast! There's 2 parts, you put on the "lipstick" part, and then just carry around the other one. It's basically a chapstick that's made to work with the lipstick to keep your lips hydrated, and the color stays on all day. I have the same problem as you, always dry lips!

A good idea is to put down some lip balm, chapstick, or a lip primer before you put on your lipstick. My sister uses Moisture Extreme Lipcolor by Maybelline and likes it.

Although they're a little expensive, I love Nars lipsticks, which you can get a sephora. They are incredibly moisturizing (the best I've tried so far, which is a lot), and they stay on so long. They also have a bunch of color options.

Dolce Vita is my favorite, in case you wanted a suggestion!

    I hope I helped!

My favorite lipsticks are from NYC. At 99 cents, most people wouldn't expect much from them, but I adore them! They're not drying at all, beautiful colors. They're almost comparable to some MAC lipsticks. And you can't go wrong at a dollar.
