Are Jews really OK with Israel killing people on ships in international waters just over concrete?

I understand Hamas could erect some totally useless bunkers out of several boat loads of concrete but its not like the Israeli defense force could ever be stalled by a simple bunker with some men inside it only using primitive Russian rifles barely without any ammunition. My opinion is that the Gaza flotilla battles have only proved what an ignorant and overtly violent people Israelis are. Violently boarding ships in international waters and killing several civilians from all across the world just over some damn concrete mix really brings the Jewish people to a new all time low.

So you're fine with Islamic terrorists, sailing under the Turkish flag, openly stating they support Hamas efforts to 'kill all jews', and bearing guns and knives - and then ambushing 18 yr old Israelis who tried to board the ship peacefully one at at time, purely to ensure no weaponry was there....?

Guess you support Islamic terrorism, then.

Guess you don't care that Al Queda members were on that ship.

Guess you also support terror attacks in New York and London.

    * Contrary to what some strange soul is saying, nobody is accusing the asker of 'anti semitism'.

The fact remains: ANY country that faced a ship full of Islamic militants and terrorists, some linked to AL QUEDA, trying to ram its shores, full of weapons, would act JUST like Israel did.

Note that no stunt was tried on EGYPT - nobody gives a damn that HER border with Gaza was SHUT and no aid was going through!

They think they can get away with it because they have protection by several major UN members, notably the US, but also several other countries as well. These countries form a strong pact that will defend Israel no matter what they do ... although, Israel's actions are becoming so extreme that I wonder how much longer these countries will remain committed to Israel. Even support for Israel in the US has been declining, which has been staunchly pro-Israel for a long time. Israel's atrocities are becoming worse and worse all the time, and more of the world is becoming aware of it. I used to blindly support Israel in the past but all the recent events and developments in the past few years has really changed my view of Israel, and not in their favor. Israel aren't doing themselves any favors either, they're going down a dangerous path for themselves.

The Palestinians smuggled weapons into the bags of sugar hence the high security now. It all needs to be checked. We've got similar problems here in America with smugglers trying to hide their drugs everywhere. One of them even took advantage of an 80 year old grandmother to get the drugs across. They hide it everywhere they can with no regard for human lives or safety. I am not okay with that.

Primitive Russian weapons? Hardly. The Palestinians have already smuggled in anti-aircraft cannons thru their massive tunnel system.

Furthermore, blockades have long been an approved Western way of dealing with countries during wartime. It is a peaceful alternative to bombs. To not support Israel in this instance would be to advocate chaos in a system that is proven effective and hence, support warfare, terrorism and smuggling.

And to answer your question after correcting your "facts" no I'm not okay with people killing each other. I am okay with Israel defending herself against terrorism. I am more than 100% okay with it.

Terrorism is bad, smuggling is bad, chaos is bad. Defense against it is good.

They knowingly attempted to run through a naval blockade. They knew the risk and did it anyway. The Israelis didn't know what was on the ship until after the fact. If you play with fire you're going to get burned. They played with fire...

I'm a Jew. I'm not OK with either side killing each other. I'm sick of people defending either side, saying they are "defending" themselves. They wouldn't have to defend themselves if they hadn't started this stupid conflict in the first place. Hate breeds more hate, nothing else. They need to stop fighting. Israeli soldiers may have been protecting themselves, but they shouldn't have killed to do so. They stopped Pro-Palestine ships with Green Party members in them before, and nobody was killed. This time they were actual Arabs, and now they have problems. Jewish people are not the IDF or the Israeli government. Please don't equate every Jew or Palestinian to agreeing with whatever their government decides to do. I'm sure all that most of them want is peace.

  • I agree. Sadly, some people will accuse you of being an antisemite, forgetting that antisemitism is hatred of Jews (And sometimes Arabs) and has absolutely nothing to do with criticizing what Israel does (Even being against the very existence of it as a state is called Anti-Zionism, not antisemitism. There are, in fact, ORTHODOX Jews who are against its existence) . Israel has refused to allow an international investigation, why? What are they afraid of, exactly? I think a lot of people know the answer to this. The flotilla, which had many activists, was barely armed (It had standard knives and maybe one gun, which is customary in most ships) and was carrying humanitarian aid, not Hamas fighters! Protecting one's self is not done by killing so many civilians (Over 1200 people died last year in Gaza because of the blockade and continuous bombing of houses and even UN schools!). Gazan people and their supporters have suffered enough, the world must do something.

EDIT: Tricyclic is right. People elected Hamas to lead the government, and the results were actually a shock, because people expected that no way a movement that usually opposes Fatah would win, but they did . Why do some nations (That claim they want to achieve democracy in the Middle East) not talk or do anything when some leaders of non-Democratic states (e.g: Egypt) rule for over 20 years and even more? The answer is clear: It is not about democracy, it is about "They're with us, and agree with everything we say, so we want them there ".

It was self defense not cold blood attack

  • the UN don't give a poop.

It's just a reason to raid the ships and so what if Hamas would want to build bunkers, a high percentage of Israeli homes have a 'panic room' shielding them from oncoming fire. Whilst a UN base is blown up because 'it was being used by hamas 'terrorists' '

houses upon houses have been bombed down since/before the conflict in Gaza december 2008 the civilians are then reduced to building their houses out of mud, yet they are denied the right to build proper houses. The Israelis don't give a poop what's in those ships, they're contented in seeing the suffering of thousands of Gazans.
