How much commission do real estate agents get for rentals in New York?
Does anyone know how much commission is paid to a real estate agent for rental properties in Westchester County in New York? I'm moving there in a few weeks, and am seriously considering getting the help of a real estate agent.

The landlord typically pays 1 months rent. If there are 2 agents involved then they split it. If there's only one then the agent keeps it all.

I don't live in New York, but I'm just a few state away. Where I am it is set by the owner in agreement with their agent, and is about one months rent to the agent they choose. This agent then gives 25-40% of one months rent to another agent if the other agent finds the tenant.

It is not mandatory to take help of a real estate agent to sell off a property. You should first prepare the property for sale and make it look great. Then you decide on the price of the property effectively. Though you don’t take help of an agent, it will be better to take the help of a real estate attorney. With the help of an attorney, you should take steps to market the home so that you can sell it off soon. Once you get a buyer, you will have to start negotiating for an offer. You will have to take part in home inspections and buyer appraisals. Once all these steps are completed, the deal will go for closing.
