If the United States had been in the same state as Russia after the war. I think the cold war would have played out the same except for two things.
1. The cold war would have not started off as fast because the United States still had to recoup
2. Russia might have not fallen
It's hard to say really what would have happened. The only way I would see United States being in the same shape as Russia after the war if we have never invented the Atom Bomb and the United States had to fight Japan in a land battle for the country to force the Empire of The Rising Sun to surrender. And in that case I would say that Russia would win the cold war just because Russia wouldn't have to compete heavily with the United States and because Russia had a great foot hold on the satellite nations in controlled across Europe.
