He called me lil puppy?..kinda long..?

I was texting this guy that I like and it seemed that he was just being nice to me but then one night I told him I was mad and he was like " what happened, lil puppy?"

I started to get worked up over the fact he was apparently calling me a DOG, so I started to argue with him and how not to call me lil puppy because i am not a dog.. and he apoligized and said sorry, so then I got over it and i forgave him, then hes like yep," if you say so!" So, then i was like wht does that mean? and he was saying that it wasnt nice of him to say that. I told him that I dont like holding grudges, and that i appreciate it if he didnt say that, then he said that puppys arnt dogs though. I was like yes they are! just smaller! and he was like no, but puppys are cute and everyone likes them. I was like well, I am not a fan of dogs... he said sorry I didnt know that..I told him that there wasnt a diffrence between a dog and a puppy and women arnt animals and they cannot be trained so i dont like being compared to one! He then said sorry, i understand..then he got mad and said gosh WHY AM I BEING ATTACKED LIKE THIS I was just calling you cute! MAN FORGET IT!

Then we srta stopped talking. I am not sure what he was trying to tell me.

But the next day he seemed to be more distant, he thought i was still mad at him. but i told him no. and we continued talking but he didnt smile through text or anything, what i am supposed to think?
