If I recorded a drum kit with the snare off, what kind of sound qualities would I expect out of it?
I've been recording drums for a while, trying to experiment with several effects. I've been listening to a lot more drum-driven music lately (mostly Genesis/Phil Collins), and some of the time it sounds like they record their drum tracks with the snare off. Is it worth a shot, or not? Thanks

My brother tried this. It works better if the recording device is farther away from the drums, but the sound quality is still pretty bad. It's worth a shot, though.
