    To start off we can let y = 4 - 2x from the second equation and then plug it into the first equation. In doing this we obtain

    4x - 3(4 - 2x) = 13

    4x - 12 + 6x = 13

    10x - 12 = 13

    10x = 25

    x = 25 / 10 or x = 5 / 2

    To find y, you can use either equation or just simply use y = 4 - 2x. Given that x = 5 / 2, it follows that y = 4 - 2(5 / 2) = -1

    So x = 5 / 2 and y = -1 or in coordinates (5 / 2, -1). This is the point where the two lines intersect.

    Taking the bottom equation 2x+y=4

    we get y=4-2x

    Substituting this into first equation we get

    4x-3(4-2x)=13

    4x-(12-6x)=13

    4x-12+6x=13

    10x-12=13

    10x=25

    x=2.5

    Substituting this value into the second equation you get

    2x2.5+y=4

    5+y=4

    y=4-5

    y=-1
