Neighborhoods similar to Hyde Park?

I asked a question the other day about neighborhoods I should check out in Chicago to move to. After researching the answers I am really interested in Hyde Park for lots of reasons however, I don't like the fact that it is quite a commute to the grad schools I am looking at and the fact that it is so far from the north side of the city. I was wondering if there are any neighborhoods in the north side of Chicago similar to Hyde Park. The reasons that I like Hyde Park is the artsy feel, eclectic stores, and the diversity of the residents. I know that no two neighborhoods are going to be identical just looking for something kinda close to the same view on the other side of the city.

Rogers Park might be a nice fit.

Hyde Park has its good points but if you aren't the type of person who stays home a ton and studies I wouldn't particularly recommend it. There isn't much to do and it's pretty cut off from the rest of the city- commute is bad and also the surrounding areas are pretty bad too so you're kind of stuck down there?

Rogers Park may have a similar problem in terms of commute because it is at the very far north end of the city. But public transit is way better because of the Red line and express buses, it also has a lot of the things you seem to be looking for- maybe check it out? Rents are cheap and landlords are pretty dog/pet friendly, lots of parks with a nice long strip of beaches and pretty diverse residents- black, white, mexican, recent immigrants from all over, etc. Plus pretty artsy and has a good amount of cool little restaurants and coffee shops. It's not the safest/fanciest area of the city but definitely safer than Hyde Park in my experience.

    Also Edgewater or Andersonville maybe?

Evanston is a suitable city. large place to strengthen childrens, however the taxes are between the utmost interior the state. the city officers blame Northwestern, they are asserting as a 40 9% proprietor of a house, they do no longer pull their weight. I lived there for a protracted time, and definitely enjoyed it. you may get all your errands completed in a single place, all in a morning walk downtown. Like everywhere else, there are undesirable areas and strong, frequently solid. the colleges interior the city of Chicago are the subject. seem into o.ok.Park. i don't have childrens so i'm no longer able to rather say.
