Kenmore washing machine 80 series won't drain or spin....help?
The wash goes as normal when I set it up until I get to the rinse. Then the water starts to fill up...and it doesn't stop. It will go on for an hour or more if I let it. Apparently it is also draining as it fills because the water level never gets out of control, it's always at the proper level...it just won't drain or spin unless I manually push the knob over to spin to keep the cycle going. Which is what I've been doing. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?

So if you manually advance the timer everything works ok. It sounds like a timer problem. See these two sites for help with your problem and a place to order parts:

There a few things your should check.
1. The drain hose is too low, causing the washer to continuously fill and drain.
2. The pressure switch (water level switch) is not connecting.
3. The lid switch is bad, or not connecting.
These are common problems for your issue.

Try cleaning out the exit filter which is usually under a swinging flap at the front of the machine. If it isn't there it will be somewhere easily accessible. This should be cleaned every 2 weeks. Also the outlet hose could be blocked with a build up of debris and soap that gets stuck over a period of time.

it does need a new pump, check the belt from the motor , see if that hasnt snapped but usually if its not draining, its the pump, also have you cleaned out the filter to make sure thats not blocked?

It could be your pump but it could also just be your timer. Apply electricity direct to the washer pump to see if it starts. if it pumps then your timer is bad.
