looking for another horse?
as you know i have 2 old horses my tb who's 25yrs and my arabx who's coming up to 40 yrs
hes still pretty much with it but you never know whats round the corner
i was thinking of getting another horse in case anything happens as otherwise remaining horse will be alone i want another mature horse i have the time and facilities to keep it but i dont want to tempt fate so to speak i can guarntee this horse a forever home do you think i should go for it please list pros and cons thanx for your help

i want to give another older horse the chance to have what my boys have and nothing too energetic for remaining horse

40 years old! Man you must take good care of your horses. I don't know many horses that live past 30. Why not get a younger horse that won't have the health issues of an older horse. You know your older horse can't live much longer (I'm sorry) and even your 25 year old could pass away in just a few years and then you'll just be heart broken with no horses. I still can't believe your horse is almost 40. I'd love to know how you cared for him to keep him around for so long.

Pros ...you can give an older horse a chance to live out its life in the pasture with some buddies
you are also looking into the future for your oldies to have a friend in the pasture with them when one of them passes.
You are relieving someone of a burden that they may not be as able as you to carry with the care of a senior horse.
cons...another mouth to feed,
there may be some unexpected health issues to look after with this new horse
