WHY CANT MY DOG WALK? PLS NO STUPID ANWERS.?

Hello, I would like to know what happenend yesterday with my dog. Actually is my dads dog. Yesterday his dog had a high fever and was shaking a lot the top of her head felt like there was something running back in forth it almost felt like it was going to burts out of her little head. It was horrible!! I gave her pidolite liquid for the fever and a little piece of aspirin just and case she had a headache. We notice that she could not stand, or walk we were thinking that it was due to the fact that she had lost energy from the fever. The next day she was much better no more fever but, she still not able to walk she looks like she paralyze and her legs just wnt respond to her. What happen? Im very, very, sad to see her this way. You probably wonder why we did not take her to the vet. Well my dad is on a fixed income and I dont have money to help him. b.t.w. she gave birth 3wks ago. pls help. Pls dont judge!! we have no money to take her to the vet. normally vets dnt help your pet, they only charge u lots of money and dont even have a cure. I know this for a fact, cause last time we took the dog to the vet I paid 300drls for a 30min examination it was a ripoff!!

If you don't get your dog to a vet, it will die...I assure you.

"Eclampsia usually develops within three weeks after the dog gives birth. The symptoms appear and progress quickly, and owners should obtain emergency medical attention for the dog at the first signs of trouble.

    Initial Symptoms

Initial eclampsia symptoms can include restlessness, nervousness, excitement and signs of stress such as unexplained panting. These symptoms may dissipate into lethargy. The dog begins walking with a stiff gait and can have muscle tremors. Her muscles may feel rigid. She eventually becomes weak enough to have problems walking. The dog may wobble and seem disoriented, and might lose all interest in the puppies.

    Progressing Symptoms

If eclampsia is not treated by this point, symptoms become more severe. The dog may develop a fever and start shivering, and she might breathe rapidly. Seizures can occur, which may lead to a coma. Eclampsia left untreated can cause permanent damage to the lungs, kidneys and liver, and often is fatal."

Sound about right? Get your dog to the vet or sign it over to a shelter. She will most likely be put to sleep at a shelter but even that would be better than to suffer through the hell that she is going through now.

Vets are not "rip-offs." If this is the way you feel, you should not own an animal. They need medical attention just like we do. How would you feel if you were dying a slow, painful death that could be easily cured but your parents thought that doctors were a "rip off?" Exact. same. thing.

Although I can tell that you're worried, you should not have a dog if you can't afford to take it to the vet for at least emergency situations, such as this. Your dog really needs medical help. Take her to a shelter so they can get her the help that she needs or maybe they can offer advice and assistance for low cost vet care. I realize that some routine vet appointments can seem like a waste of money, but they are not. It's a way to ensure that your dog is healthy are receives the shots that are needed to keep her healthy. Regardless of whether you ever take her to the vet for a routine visit, she absolutely needs to go now or go to a shelter. She sounds very sick and could be suffering and in pain. Aspirin will not help. It is human medicine and not for dogs. Please don't let your dog suffer any longer if you truly love her.

Im just wondering...why are you breeding her if you have no money...that could be so dangerous for the puppies. You really should find some way to take her to the vet, or at least take her to the shelter and let them treat her, and then re adopt her, I know people are always bi$%&ing on here about how if u dont have $ then you shouldnt own a dog, but my opinion is regardless if someone isnt financially stable to pay 3000 vet bills a dog in a home being loved is way better than one being euthanized or left in a cage its whole life. Im not gong to judge you because I dont even know you. But it sounds serious enough it needs some serious medical attention. And stop giving her medicine at home it could make her worse since you dont really know whats wrong with her.

    And where are the puppies?

Source(s): I just noticed you posted this 3 days ago also? And you still havent taken her to the vet, Hun that dog needs medical attention NOW!

This sounds very serious. Your dog could die.

It was very irresponsible of you in the first place to let her get pregnant. The fact that you can't afford ONE dog means you DEFINITELY shouldn't be having a litter.

Get a different vet if you're worried about getting ripped off. Cancel whatever extra things you don't need (cable/satellite TV, or maybe internet for example). If this was your daughter, or your sister, or really any other family member you'd put money aside and RUSH to the vet. The same needs to be done for your dog. I'm sure a vet could work out a payment plan with you.

No money for the vets but you thought letting her get pregnant was a good idea? THE DOG NEEDS A VET. And since you can neither provide medical care for her or her pups pack them ALL up and go to the vet or the shelter and sign away your ownership of these animals.

No vet charges 300 for JUST an exam and nothing else.

Well last time I checked a call to the vet to see what they think is free. So you think that us telling you to get you're dog the proper medical care is a stupid answer, wow.

I'd also like to point out that you not taking you're dog to a vet or surrendering her to someone who will when she is obviously seriously ill, is in direct violation of the Federal Animal Cruelty Laws. There are no excuses with these laws.

I feel so sorry for those puppies, if you can't even afford vet care, how are you going to afford to care for puppies when mom is dead, which she will be if you don't get her help?

Shots and wormings are not optional, unless you want those puppies deaths on you're hands.

If you have no money to AFFORD a vet then take the dog to a shelter where it can get the medical help it needs.

WHY ARE YOU SELF MEDICATING IT...that will only worsen the dogs condition you are NOT A "licensed VET" so why are you trying to medicate the dog, human medications if anything may have worsen the condition or made the dog even sicker.

oh dear - that sounds dreadfully like eclampsia and the aspirin was probably the worst thing you could do. NEVER give aspririn to a dog before it's been checked by a vet because some dogs are sensitive and wind up with liver damage.

ETA: to all the judgemental folks out there saying "if you can't afford a vet, don't have a dog", how's this - maybe if vets didn't charge such ridiculously high fees, those of us living on low incomes would be more inclined to go to them! i have a quote from my local vet - neutering my dog would cost me $508.63 but hey, at least the "TLC" is free....

bobbie: how do i afford internet, etc? easy - i don't. i'm on a public computer. i have telephone and satellite because i live in the bush and must have the phone for safety reasons and the satellite because nothing else works that far out - can't even get dialup internet because my phone is the original party line for the area. i don't have hot water, i don't even have running water - i pump from the river into a holding tank, treat it, and then pump from there into the plumbing. my dog is on bones and raw food diet because it's free if you know where to ask. i don't have a car.

and yet, even though my region is listed by Stastics Canada has having the lowest per capita income, the highest percentage of seniors in the province, and no public transit, our vet charges fees i haven't seen since i left Toronto!

It sounds like she had a seizure. You could always call you vet and see if they take payment plans and also ask them if there is anything you can do for her at home other than what you are doing...

    What's an anwer?

    Why did she give birth?

    You didn't spay her.

    Why is she not fine?

You didn't take her to the vet.

The vet WOULD have helped. If you can't support, and take your dog to the vet when she needs it, you shouldn't have the dog in the first place.

    Vet ASAP.
