Technical Death Metal song of the day?

The Praying Mantis from Centurus-A

I picked up this CD yesterday and I have probably listened to it five times since then. For me this is exactly what I am looking for in Technical Death Metal. One of the better releases I have heard in a long time.

MQ: Thoughts/Comments.

MQ2: What are some of your favorite Technical Death Metal albums in the last ten years.

BQ: Have you listened to a CD so many times and ended up getting so sick of it that you can no longer enjoy it?

Update:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQducsnnaOk guess I should add a song link

Update 2:

Between the buried and me?!?!?**shakes head sadly**

Update 3:

@KP the Fleshmould songs were amazing.

    Am listening now.........

Pretty solid. Nothing negative to say.. and that interlude between 3:00 and 4:00 with the soft pace and clean vocals broke it up nice. Worst I could offer for negative criticism is I would have liked to have seen more change ups in the riffs and drum fills during the body of the song. Other than that, real solid. I'll look into them more.

MQ2- Either Psycroptic's Ob(servant) (grew on me.. even without Chalky) or Fleshmould's - The Lazarus Breed

BQ- Well..have played Epica's "Design Your Universe" well over 100 times since November..... and ain't remotely tired of it yet................

***EDIT... WHAT THE HECK! Begone little children.. and take your MallCore wannabe Death Metal with you. Between the Buried and Me is freaking Metalcore you n00bs, not remotely related to Tech Death. GahhhH! Ignorance!

    THIS is TechDeath!

@JP... thanks.. for me good drumming is key in techdeath..and I think they have two of the better less blastbeat dependent brutal drummers alive. I know a lot swear by Flo with Cryptopsy.... but honestly I hear mostly Blast Beats from him, and I really find that boring. I do like the drums on your link for that reason.

Technical Death Metal The only bands I listen to that can be counted as PDM are Obscura, Death, Gojira, Anomalous, Opeth and In Mourning. All spectacular bands, but I listen to Tech Death more, plus I don't really try to break Prog Metal down into sub-subgenres, and simply the think of the aforementioned bands as Progressive Metal (yep, I know Death can also be counted as Old School too). If it was the very inclusive tag of Progressive Metal vs Tech Death, definitely the former. BQ: Opeth. If you're a little more strict on the tag and don't count them as PDM, then Anomalous. BQ2: Tie between Gorguts, Lykathea Aflame, Gigan and Origin. LA would probably win overall though. BQ3: Hate Eternal's Phoenix Amongst the Ashes

  • I have this entire album : Side Effects Expected....very talented bunch of musicians...vicious riffs and drumming even more so....and the solos classy too...very jeff loomis like...

    MA :

    Quo Vadis - Defiant Imagination

    Martyr - Feeding the Abscess

Blotted Science - The Machinations of Dementia

Theory in Practice - Colonizing the Sun

    Necrophagist - Epitaph

Arsis - A Celebration Of Guilt

Psycroptic - Scepter of the Ancients

Animals as Leaders - Animals as Leaders

    The Faceless - Planetary Dulaity

    Spawn Of Possession - Noctambulant

    Sleep Terror - Probing Tranquility

Amogh Symphony - Abolishing The Obsolete System (an indian band)

MA2 : Well...yeah..sometimes...but if give it a rest and listen to it after a few days or so ill like it...i did get bored of Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon recently

***BTBAM is not pure mallcore...it has lots of prog metal in it...though i hate the guy's screech!! but they're not tech death for sure

MQ: Pretty cool. Especially, I love the thrash elements. I think I'm going to like these guys. I'm a sucker for anything fused with thrash really...and to think it's tech death/thrash...that's a sexy combination. I think I'mma get a huge ***** if I think about the wonders of that combo any longer...not kidding either.

MQ2: There's quite a few, my favorite has got to be Origin's Antithesis though. Then again, never heard tech death/thrash before.

BQ: I get like that quickly. I'm always on the hunt for new bands because of this. After about 3 months I'll be able to enjoy the old albums again.

I've never been a huge Tech. death fan, most bands in the genre to me sound boring, but I really liked this one. I'll have to add them to my almost unwieldy long list of bands to check out.

MQ2: Defiant Imagination by Quo Vadis:

BQ: lots of times, if I were to name them all... let's just say it would be a long list
