Help me figure out my travel plans - what cities are near St Louis, MO (south)?
I am trying to plan a road trip from Pell City, AL to Mpls, MN to attend my brother's wedding next weekend. I want to book a hotel room somewhere around the St Louis, MO area but don't want to go quite that far the first day of my drive. so if you looked at a map and planned a route, where would I be about six hrs into my drive?
I do not want to go thru Memphis and already plan on staying in Cedar Rapids, IA the second night of my trip. Its just that first stop that I am trying to figure out.

if you are heading up highway 55 to St. Louis, you might consider Cape Girardeau. When we are in that area we usually stay at the Drury Inn. Pool is large, rooms are nice plus you get a free happy hour in the bar and nice free full breakfast in their restaurant.

I drive from st. louis to alabama all the time and drive thru memphis, because thats 55. Will you be going thru Nashville instead, because then you wont cross back into Missouri until you are in st. louis and you will have to stay in Illinois on 57 or 64 or peduchah, ky.
If you are coming up 55 the towns from the south with hotels Blythville, arkansas; cape G, mo; perryville, mo; Ste Genevieve,mo; Festus,mo; arnold,mo; then your more into the st.louis metro area.
