I'm having trouble converting an ebook that's a PDF file to a word document?

I googled "convert pdf to word" for you and it has many options for you. Basically, you need a converter. Some are freeware, some converters are on-line services and others are purchased software.

Depends on how the PDF file was created.... Some programs create a PDF file by converting the original file into a "graphics" or picture of the original page. There is no way to extract text from one of those PDF files. The actual Adobe Acrobat (creator of the PDF format) can save files in a different way so that the information can be extracted from them as text. But you have to have the $400 Acrobat program to extract the information. Word itself does not have a way to extract information from a PDF.
