Who does Israel really belong to? The Israelis or the Palestinians? Also, is Israel the promised land of?
milk and honey for the Israelis? Why can't they simply "share" the land and stop this needless violence? To be totally honest, the land belongs to the Maker and Creator of Heaven and earth; God! As far as people are concerned, who is the "rightful" owner of Israel? The Jews or the Arabs and why?
"And I (God) am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honey: unto the place of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites."
Exodus 3: 8 (KJV)
Edit:
This is a 3 part question. Thanks in advance.
Trolling? ( o _ 0 ) Umm...first and foremost Dave, I'm not a troll. This is a legit question. The reason why I ask is because, a long time White House correspondent resigned over comments regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians.http://www.kbtx.com/home/headlines/95781204.html
I agree with Ktron, as I don't know enough about history, especially Bibical history. I do know that God promised the OT Israelis a land flowing with milk and honey. I'm assuming that this promised land was and is indeed Israel?
David or Dave, you really should "read" the question before attacking people.
This is only a question and already it's a hotbed of contention. For the Israelis and the Palestinians, it's a matter of life or death. :(
Thanks Faith! ( ^ _ ^ ) This question was not meant to stir the hornets nest as some would suppose. These two ethnicities have been fighting for years over Israel. It makes you wonder who's right and who's wrong? Are they both wrong?

Simple and to the point YES, it belongs to God who gave it to the Jews. Most here do not even know enough about the Bible or Bible Prophecy to even comment!
Edit:The Gospel writers used the term Israel to refer to the Land. Why should we use any other term when referring to the Land, especially now that the Jews are back in the Land and have reestablished the nation of Israel among the family of nations?
satan hates the Gospel of the crucified and risen Messiah, and he hates the reality of the restoration of Israel as the nation that will ultimately receive Jesus as the Messiah at His return. So who's wrong? Not hard to figure out is it?.... Blessings :)
Israel is a small nation under God's covenant protection and anyone that curses this country will be cursed.

First, the Jews had not been driven out of Israel; there was an Arab movement there, contemporaneous with Hitler and allied with him, to drive all Jews out of the British Mandate of Palestine, as it was then. But this was not entirely successful, and Hitler lost the war. As for why Israel belongs to the Jews, well, it was given to Abraham and his descendants; and God said he would bless those who bless the Jews, and curse those who curse the Jews. That is at least as good a claim to the land as that of the Arab Palestinians, who claim that it belongs to them because it was once ruled by Muslims (under the Ottoman Empire) and therefore must always be ruled by Muslims.

Israel is the First Covenant People of the LORD.
The LORD said He will gather the children of Israel from where they have scattered and return them to the Land that is called Israel today. But actually the Land the LORD promised is from the Egyptian River to the Euphrates River. From the sea inland.
In the end the property line will be Egypt, Israel & Assyria.
Israel is Jacob. Abraham had Issac who had Jacob who's name was exalted to Israel by the LORD.
The Savior Messiah would be born through the people of the 1st Covenant, who is the children of Israel.
So that land should be called Israel & not Palestine. But Gaza & West Bank can just be cities in Israel. Then all should be happy. That is what is going to happen anyway.
The territory was called Palestinian and there were Jews, Christians & Palestinians and other people living there for years.

1) Who does Israel really belong to?
As a whole, the Israeli government. Particular pieces of land belong to the particular landowners, theoretically regardless of the government in charge.
2) Also, is Israel the promised land of?
milk and honey for the Israelis?
Only a portion of it.
3) Why can't they simply "share" the land and stop this needless violence?
They are "sharing" it. The Muslim population of Israel (not counting the occupied territory) is 16%. There is no legal religious or ethnic barrier to emigrating to Israel and owning property there.

The conflict is over who controls the land - not who lives on or in it. The conflict goes back to the Israeli War for Independence when, at the suggestion of the multi-national invading Islamic army, millions of Palestinians fled Israel. The premise was that it would be too dangerous for them to remain until after the war, when the supposedly victorious Islamic army would allow those refugees to return. Several thousands of Muslims chose to remain in Israel.
The Israeli government, quite naturally, considers the people who abandoned Israel to be traitors to the nation (they were not willing to fight to keep Israel independent). Thus, we have refugee camps in some nations (e.g. Lebanon) and a huge refugee-descended population in other less well-governed regions (Gaza Strip).
Do those who abandoned Israel in its hour of need have a right to the protections (including the ownership of property) offered by the Israeli government to its citizens? I think it's difficult to say "yes" unconditionally.
Imagine the U.S. goes to war again - say, with Russia. Imagine that several thousand people migrate to Canada without bothering (or having the time) to sell their property because they do not want to be involved in the dangerous combat. In other words, they abandoned the U.S. Do they have the right to claim their abandoned property after the war? What if they moved to Russia to escape the war in the U.S? Do they still have the right to the property that they abandoned?
Now - what if they did move to Canada, and now many of them (the ruling faction) engage in frequent missile strikes into the U.S. This leading faction does not want to "share" anything - they want to rule the U.S., and they accept nothing less.
How do you propose "sharing" with them?.

this is a true argument of semantics and interpretation.........of genesis 15 and 16.
see, the Qur'an accepts the Hebrew Torah, the Psalms of David, and the Gospels of Jesus Christ (Sura 4:163; 5:44-48) as divinely inspired, AND even encourages testing its claims by these "previous scriptures." "If you have any doubt regarding what is revealed to you from your Lord, then ask those who read the previous scripture" (Sura 10:94).
here's the problem---the contradiction causing the problem over the holy land, a great deal of conflict between Muslims and ethnic Jews, and is thought to have been and continues to be the cause of much bloodshed in the Middle East---
according to the Torah, God promised Abraham a child through his wife Sarah (Genesis 17-18) to fulfill a promised covenant ("the child of promise," Genesis 15). as you may know Sarah, being barren thought to help and offered Hagar, her maid servant in her stead. Abraham agreed and Hagar gave birth to Ishmael --- and later Sarah gave birth to Isaac (who later begot Jacob, the father of the twelve tribes of Israel, and the Messiah, Jesus Christ, eventually came into the world through the nation of Israel, fulfilling the covenant which God had made with Abraham) by Abraham.
and God promised to give the land of Canaan (Palestine) to Isaac's descendants, the land which Israel possesses today (Genesis 12:4-7; 13:12-18; 15:1-21; 17:1-22; 21:1-14; 25:19-26; 26:1-6; 35:9-12).
here's the catch --- the Qur'an teaches that Ishmael was the child of promise (Sura 19:54; compare Sura 37:83-109 with Genesis 22:1-19) and so set claim to the covenant promises as meant for Ishmael's descendants, not Isaac's. Muhammad descended from Ishmael and so Muslims seek to lay claim to these covenant promises, namely the land of Palestine.

you have gotten some good answers - but phrog's answer provides the most imformation without a bias.....the answer to your question actually depends on the belief system you accept.

According to ancient Scripture, Israel belongs to God's chosen people.
Obviously the Israelite people.
As for sharing, do you like sharing your home with hostile peoples? Who have the attitude. "If you do not share, we will just take your house, after all it is ours to take, because we say so..."

interesting
OF COURSE, the land belongs to God. God DID give the promised land to the descendants of Jacob, but they lost the land because of their sin.
There are two points of view opposing one another (Palestinian/Israeli or Muslim/Jewish). Who is right?
I personally think people misuse the Bible on the matter.

Well since both parties are too bigoted to share it I say have 2 separate states: Israel and a Palestinian West Bank - yeah good luck with that.
