Which is worse.. Spiritual bankruptcy or financial bankruptcy?

Which one, in your opinion is the worst fate to suffer?

What do you think identifies someone as spiritually bankrupt?

PS I'm not talking religion here, but spirituality.. for some those things may be the same, for others it may not. I am only referring to truly spiritually bankrupt individuals, people who have no metaphysical life at all.

Update:

Good to see ya Angel! I agree that spiritual bankruptcy is worse, but I'm left wondering what each individual considers spiritual bankruptcy to be.. I'm interested to find out.

My answer here would be hands down......................spiritual bankruptcy. To me being spiritually bankrupt means you have no foundation, no connection to anything outside of yourself, no hope, no feeling of optimism or ability to remain optimistic about the way life can turn you around on a dime with seemingly no rhyme or reason. Spiritual people don't travel the roads of life in one dimension so this life experience has, for them, a depth and meaning beyond the surface events.

Having the inner resources allows people to have the spiritual means, and strength beyond their own, to overcome the worst in life and the most unimaginable challenges and obstacles, financial bankruptcy being the least of them.

They shouldn't be seen in different lights. Sex life, financial life, social life, religious life, etc. they all fall under the roof of spirituality. We cannot say that we are spiritual now but not later or v.v.., nor here spiritual (in a church) and out there not. Prolonged financial bankruptcy may be an indication of some spiritual lack. George Bernard Shaw once mentioned that poverty (prolonged financial bankruptcy) is a sin. That should tell a lot about both bankruptcies.

Moral bankruptcy! This issue concerns me a lot because we, humans, of the highest race created by the Almighty, are behaving like animals (dogs and pigs are the most common animals that we follow.) Financial bankruptcy can be overcome easily; but moral bankruptcy is very difficult to beat.

I have been both and spiritually bankrupt is infinitely worse. I think only the person can tell you if their spiritual life is a "going concern" or not.

I was living on the street. I took a girl I liked to the movies to try and convince her to let me come and live with her (romantically or otherwise.) I had to have quite a few drinks to even show up, and as we were sitting there, ten minutes into the movie, I come out of a blackout and realize I have pissed myself again. So I skulk out of the theater in the middle of the movie and I need to go and get a change of clothes. All of my clothes are in the bathroom at work. So when my co-workers KNOW I am out on a date with this other co-worker I have to walk into my workplace reeking of urine and vodka and go get a change of clothes, and wash up in the bathroom.

THAT is spiritual bankruptcy. No amount of vodka could cover my shame. Even though we WORKED together 40 hours a week, that girl never spoke to me again.

Between spiritual bankruptcy and financial bankruptcy, the worst one is spiritual bankruptcy in the sense that it is really very hard to overcome.Spiritual is important for us for we are nothing without this while financial bankruptcy is only about wealth and the power. We were not financially stable unless we were spiritually stable.

Spiritual bankruptcy would be worse for me, as my beliefs ground me in this earthly life. Having been through financial setbacks, I realized that they were temporary. Spirituality is forever.

Identifying a spiritually bankrupt person would be difficult, unless they demonstrated through words or deeds that they are without hope, and faith, or that they do not embrace a higher power.

Source(s): ADD..again..lol...Kel.. I believe that many criminals such as mass-murderers are spiritually void. Watching the TV interviews, and hearing the chilling accounts of the crimes left me with goosebumps! Like Manson, Bundy, and ad nauseum! CREEPY...their eyes were as dead as the victim's.

the worse bet. the two is spiritual bankruptcy because this is very important in the since that as a human being we need to secure first ourselves before other.because when we talk about financial bankruptcy it talk more on power to hold on.that with out it we can no longer exist.

    What is spiritual bankruptcy?

I have no idea about it.

Everyone has spirit, and they lose it only when they die. So, how can one be spiritually bankrupt and still alive? I don't get it.

Spiritual bankruptcy, because financial bankruptcy is easier to overcome. Once you're spiritually bankrupt then you're lost.
