Why is there smoke coming from my steering wheel whenever i turn the lights on?

Everytime i turn my lights on in my 2003 Dodge Stratus R/T, smoke starts coming from the steering wheel column from the space the blinker stock sits in. It does not smoke when i turn my parking lights on or when i use the blinker. It only does it when i turn the lights on or when i use my highbeams. What could be wrong?!?

I'm going to say a frayed wire is causing a short between the headlight control switch and the headlights themselves. I would get it to a service shop ASAP, it could cause a fire.

PARK THE CAR IMMEDIATLY DO NOT DRIVE IT. you have a bad switch probably now, however, a fuse should have blown already. since it did not, there is an excellent chance your car can catch on fire and burn into a crispy car. It needs to go to an electrical shop, asap, I would disconnect the battery NOW. AND THEN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AT A DEALER, OR ELECTRICAL SHOP if you continue driving, this could be a disaster waiting to happen. tow it to the shop. best of luck

The "smoke" grow to be maximum possibly steam. The belt has the two dislodged or broke. The belt additionally drives the water pump, consequently it would overheat. develop the hood & look on the serpentine belt. you need to have observed the battery easy on the sprint & the warmth gage to the optimal. »»»
