How many times a day do you use a petroleum based product?

No one likes spilling it. No one likes who we import it from. No one likes the cost of fuels arbitrary fluctuations. But really, could you go even a normal day without using it a hundred times?

    Incalculable.

Right or wrong, oil is THE driving force behind our economy. Whether it is made of it, moves it or produces energy from it, oil is everywhere.

Should we find a better alternative? Hades yes. I'd love to find a different energy source and simply leave the Middle East and let them go back to killing each other. But for now, it is what it is and we're stuck with it.

    Many times a day.

    BUT

This does NOT justify the gusher in the Gulf.

That is NOT the ONLY well out there.

There is a REASON deep water drilling is banned.

They don't know how to fix it!!!!!!

There were other ways to tap this well. There were other wells closer in that could have been drilled.

THIS IS NOT THE ONLY OIL WELL!!!!!!!!

It was a rich well and Obama GAVE it to another country.

A Company that has the worst safety record in the history of oil.

A company that is NOT environmentally friendly.

    WHY BP? Why?

Too many to count: coffee mug; sandwich bags, plastic container for lunch, gas in car, plastic used for computers-monitor-keyboards; credit/debit cards and the list grows without ever thinking about it.

Many times. What I fail to understand is why conservatives can't envision a future with less reliance on oil and seem even downright hostile to exploring the alternative possibilities.

No one is denying our dependence on oil. What people are advocating is breaking that dependence and making a sincere and focused effort to do so. What is wrong with trying to do that?

Almost impossible not to use it many times a day.

Every single person who responds is using it to respond, since plastic is a crude oil based product.
