Shame on Elton John...
He must need the money pretty bad...
(Maybe Rush can get Ellen Degeneres to be his "Best Man...")

Remember, Mr. Dwight's a fairly conservative dude compared to his stage persona, even for a bisexual. And he was paid $1 million.
Hey Wire & String, Elton John himself is against gay marriage. Both him and Limbaugh support civil unions for homosexual couples.
"I don't want to be married. I'm very happy with a civil partnership. If gay people want to get married, or get together, they should have a civil partnership. The word 'marriage,' I think, puts a lot of people off. You get the same equal rights that we do when we have a civil partnership. Heterosexual people get married. We can have civil partnerships."

Do you people take the time to read or think before you engage in a discussion? None of you have any idea what you're talking about. You peg Elton as this ultra-liberal LGBT crusader, and he's not. That's Lady Gaga.
Alternative Junkie, you and the rest of the ignorant commenters are the brainless little sheep in this discussion.
My point has nothing to do with Rush's motives for inviting Elton John. I'm explaining that Elton John is on the same side of the fence as Limbaugh regarding gay marriage. I'm sure Rush is using his appearance as publicity to some degree, but the reason Elton accepted (besides the hefty paycheck) is because he is not ideologically opposed to Limbaugh's publicly stated beliefs, sincere or not. I'm picturing the deal from Elton John's point of view and trying to reason out why he would agree to perform. He's making a good chunk of change and his views on the issue do not clash with Limbaugh's. There's no reason for him to turn it down, which is what most of you don't seem to understand.

Liberals let liberals down. Elton is a credit to a liberal when he says that we all have the right to disagree. I believe that is accepting and respecting others opinion, even if it is different from yours. Limbaugh is not a gay basher; as unknowing people portray him. He makes occasional sophomoric jokes, but one of his mentors was gay and he has stated he believes homosexuality is something you are born with. Seems Elton maybe saw past the stereotype of Limbaugh by liberals. Good for him.

Wow, never would have seen that coming. I honestly don't know how to feel about his one. I'm surprised obviously and wondering what Rush Limbaugh's followers are going to think of this.

I start to wonder if...
A) Rush has even heard of Elton John
B) his new bride-to-be is inflatable
C) Elton will wear a rainbow tux
D) Elton will be laughing at Rush the entire time.
@Adam (Go Celtics!)-
They won't think anything of it- they'll just accept it like the brainless little sheep that they are.

I think it just shows you that Elton needs the money and the publicity. Rush is also trying to appeal to a more mainstream audience than his conservative base. Its his way of answering "no I don't hate fags. Look Elton John is playing at my wedding." It is more of that "hate the sin, love the sinner" BS. Look we love Elton even though he commits abominations with his gay lifestyle. We forgive you Elton. Jesus loves even you. That condescending holier than thou sort.
I wonder how it works for Elton. He wrote a tribute to Princess Diana. Now he is playing at Rush's wedding. It's a step down if you ask me.

so let me get this straight, after campaigning that allowing gay marriage would ruin the sanctity of marriage, rush limbaugh has a gay man perform at his wedding to his 4th wife? i hope elton charged a f*ckload of money to be part of this "see i am not bigoted, i just think gay people shouldn't have the same rights as me" charade.
@rmrstar- if Limbaugh is doing this as part of a push to support the inclusion of civil union laws in the united states, (which btw are currently only available in a hand full of states and would be a very progressive step forward in this country) and it isn't an overly calculated, soon to be forgotten about publicity grab to try and paint himself as not being the bigot everyone thinks he is, i will be completely and utterly shocked. would all marriages after the first one be called civil unions in rush's amazing, determined and oh-so-well publicized battle for gay people's rights to civil unions? you know, to preserve the sanctity of the word marriage?

I'm surprised but I don't have a problem with it. I'm not a Rush Limbaugh fan but the last time I checked he is not wanted by the police or anything so why not?

Interesting. I love Elton and he does put on a great show.
Fourth marriage for Rush - bigger question for me is who are these 4 women and why???? lol. Ah, Family Values and Politics.

So it's Limbaugh's 4th marriage?! It's ironic how he sees homosexuality as something destroying the institution of marriage.
