Why is the Big 12 falling apart?
I really don't know why it may not be around in a couple years. What is going on? I knew the Big 10 was looking to add 1 team, now we are talking about multiple teams. I was hoping that 1 team would be Missouri, Iowa State, or Notre Dame to keep it a Mid West oriented conference. Nebraska is close, but i consider it more Western. I'd welcome Nebraska though. But, why is the Big 12 disintegrating?

I think Nebraska took the opportunity to make more money and to be treated more equally in a conference. U of Texas pretty much runs the show in the Big 12 and gets most of the revenue.
The Big 12 is pretty much made up of Texas schools, Oklahoma, then everyone else, and that is exactly how the money is shared.

They were a strong conference so the other Conferences want their teams. Based on their location and the number of teams they are planning on losing they are just going to let it end. When the Big East lost their good teams they were able to go pick up other teams that were in a small conference that were still in their area.

you're good regarding the super 12 being a comparatively aggressive on the sphere(s) of play and the BB courts.. however the explanation for the cave in grew to become into no longer athletic competitiveness... It grew to become into mismanagement of the corporation ingredient of faculty activities. The convention in no way incredibly secured a worthwhile television deal that matched what the super 10 and percent10 have been doing for years. Texas ultimately desperate "fkthatidea" and grew to become into engaged on buying a television deal of their own. Nebraska and A&M objected publicly, and a few of different faculties did to a lesser degree. They needed area of the pie that Texas grew to become into baking. So.. it got here all the way down to $$$'s, as properly-known, and a failure of the super 12 to compete $$$ clever with the different substantial conferences.

Competition is too thin. That's my guess. Too much of a gap between the top teams such as Texas and bottom feeders such as Baylor.

They don't contractually share money like the Big 10 does.
