How long after you got to the once a night breast feeding did your milk stay in?

I am still nursing my son, but only right before bed. It's been about a week and I have really noticed a change. How long, if you did the same thing were you able to nurse before your milk was gone? I know I have hardly any milk on my left side and my right is not that much either, but still produces. I almost feel a pulling pain on the left as if it's telling me to stop, but I dont want to yet. Did the same happen to you? I know I can stop and it will be ok, it's just hard. My son is 14 months old... thanks!

Update:

PS I always try to start with the lest first, and because it's so empty doesn't come down fast enough and he ends up getting mad and wants to pull off. I will try this again though, as I dont want one side totally gone!

By the time i decided to wean my second son he was almost 2. He was still getting around 3-4 feeds then! I'm sure you will keep making enough even for once or twice a day. Try to give him the left breast first everytime so you can build up your supply on that breast.

I only breast fed once a day in the end because I wanted my babies to still have something. I was doing that for about 3 weeks and then decided to stop altogether. My boobs got engorged and painful after 2 days of stopping, so I reckon I could have gone on for a lot longer then that

With my youngest, it was 2 1/2 months, and then he self-weaned (he was almost 15 months). Towards the end, he was just comfort feeding anyway.
