Digital SLR Question...?
OK, so I'm in the market for an entry level DSLR. I've pretty much narrowed it down to a Pentax K-x with a Canon XSi as an alternative. What I want I know, is how the Pentax performs in real life. Also, since Canon has discontinued the XSi, would that be a reason not to buy it? I tried out the D3000 and XS in stores and both felt too plastic-y for my taste; need a rubber grip. If you have any other suggestions for a DSLR, throw 'em out there. Budget about $700.

Pentax cameras rock hard. They are well know for their great build and superior optics. You can also use their entire lens catalog and m42 lens on them very easily. The only real downside to Pentax is that they are smaller company with a smaller user base. Besides that, great cameras.
The XSi was discontinued because Canon want buyers to move to the more expensive T21 as their entry level model. The XSi is a good camera.

seriously, there is no reason to not buy the Pentax K-x, it has so many more advanced features than the XS, XSi, and D3000. It's a better camera at a cheap price, so my advice is don't even think about this one, don't doubt this, the Pentax K-x is the most valuable entry level DSLR on the market today.

Pentax cameras are simply workhorses.
