BUT is the only symbolism. But means doubt. It is an evolution from a state of absolute faith in God at the Sati Yuga to that of a state of doubt by the word But or paranthu (in sanskrit). It was a state of stable and finite life on earth. Everything was understood as finite. God prevailed among the mortals. The faith was complete. The later Yugas are gradual evolution from finite to infinite. There is a disintegration of finite to infinite, the finite values, the finite morals, the finite faith, the finite heath, the finite dharma, the finite karma all got entrapped in doubt. God itself became the subject of doubt. Gradually the doubt will envelop the whole human kind. In Dwapara Yuga only Yadavas were enveloped in that and the tragedy of their anihilation to place by the end of that Yuga and in Kali Yuga the doubt envelopes the whole mankind and therefore their annihilation or extinction of the human race in imminent and certain. Only the Time is yardstick. Moving towards God is faith and moving away from God is Doubt. Moving towards god is life and moving away from god is death. Dharma is the path towards God and those who did not take the side of Dharma was annihilated.
