Cannot encode certain episodes on DVD?
Upon using handbreak to encode "South Park season 10" on DVD so that it can play on my ipod i found that on most of the episodes the encode went smoothly as usual, however with 2 particular episodes handbreak, and my dvd player seems unable to encode/play these episodes past the halfway point, as handbreak is halfway through encoding these episodes the encode simply stops in its tracks and the same on my dvd player the episodes freeze halfway through, why would certain episodes work and other wont, the disks are damaeged perhaps? any ideas/possible solutions would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

Give the DVD to VLC first.
If VLC will play it, you can always uses VLC to recode the episode to an mp4 instead of Handbrake this time. Under Advanced File Open > play the file locally while saving the output as a program stream
and recode to mp4 or whatever you normally choose for Handbrake alone.
Source(s): Do you already have VLC installed? Usually Handbrake asks for VLC for help reading the navigation menu of the dvd. - Anonymous1 decade ago
You need a special software program to "rip" the movie from the DVD and encode it in a format that your iPod can play. There are a lot of these programs. Try "dvd to ipod touch"--it's free and available for both Mac and PC.

I recommend that you use aimersoft to rip the DVD's, it can bypass all kind of dvd copyright protection schemes and save the DVD to computer in iPod video formats.
Most of all, it will not break the video into pieces, it will join all DVD titles and chapters and make them as one standalone video file.

ok im a total technophobe and all (know nothing) but since you said ANY ideas i do recall hearing of these screen-capture cards which from what i gather just take whatever goes onto the screen and then you could maybe burn it on dvd and do what you want from there.
