Which degree would be MORE likely to get me a job?
A degree in advertising or a degree in PR. No asshole answers please.
Apropos, thanks for your answer but at the school I plan to attend (UT) they are both under the school of communications. I've tried business and I don't like it at all. I'm sticking with communications but I don't know which degree is better.

PR is generally taught in a Communications Major. Communications Majors get no respect.
Advertising/Sales is generally taught in a Business Major. A Business degree is more flexible. If there are no jobs in Advertising, a Business Major can sell himself in some other field.

Like the first answerer wrote, PR would most likely open up more management positions, and offer higher starting salaries. I strongly suggest doing a double major in both areas though as this will maximize all chances of finding a job immediately upon graduation.

Why not do a general Business degree (or Communications) and do an internship one summer with an advertising agency, and another summer internship with a PR firm.
