Zelda Windwaker Letter Sorting Game Dragon Roost?

II beat the boss in Dragon Roost Dungeon. The ship will not let me go on to the next place which is marked on my map. Everytime I head toward it or any other direction it turns me back. to Dragon Roost. The only thing I know I haven't completed at Dragon Roost is the letter sorting game. I can't seem to get past 22 letters. Do I have to complete this to be able to move on? Help! I'm stuck!

    First off you dont have to do that to get past.

    Talk to your boat, or to the bird girl.. one should have the answer.
