Why would people support animal cruelty and torture?

This is one of those things everyones gonna deny, i'm sure, but you know who you are.

There's tons of opposition towards animal rights groups for even the most logical of animal protection bills.

I see all sorts of nasty comments about "fascist animal loving whackos" even if they're trying to keep dogs and cats from being burned alive

How can any sane person actually be FOR abuse like that? and even worse, demonize other for trying to put an end to it?

People resist change (me too). For some reason it's in our nature. I don't really understand why, because change makes life interesting and exciting.

The times when I managed to make major changes were the best parts of my life. I look back now and realize that it wasn't even difficult: becoming anti-apartheid (I'm South African and grew up in a white bubble, not realizing the atrocities of the system), becoming a vegan, and on a different level: moving to a foreign country, were some of the more exciting things I've done in my life.

When people realize that they are expected to make a change, they resist and get angry instead, and then resort to name-calling.

On retrospect I can recommend making sensible changes. They're worthwhile, and often easier than they seem...

I even have not study this yet i assume, from what you have mentioned, that what they are saying is that in case you drink pepsi you're helping an company that for the period of a few way is in contact in animal cruelty. possibly they are owned by a business enterprise that experiments or funds a business enterprise that experiments on animals. Peta are no longer in contact in animal cruelty - they marketing campaign against it.

I might be one of the people you're talking about. But let me explain.

It's not that I'm FOR animal cruelty, I'm just against world governments spending money on subject matter that is largely irrelevant to the success of our future evolution as a species. Animal rights activists don't see the big picture of the world, they only know how they feel when they hold an adorable little kitten and then realize there are people out there who torture kittens.

It's just a question of priorities. Did animal rights matter when Hitler's armies were rampaging across Europe? No. Did animal rights matter when blacks were fighting for the right to sit where they want on a public bus? No. Did animal rights matter during the Great Depression? No. But now, we have all this excess time and money on our hands, and we don't really know what to do with ourselves. It's really easy to just pick a cause and start fighting for it when no one really needs you anywhere else.

Any person who tortures any living creature has a sick heart. Who knows what kind of home environment they experienced as a child. There are reasons people turn into twisted souls. There are reasons the heart becomes hardened. It was never meant to be. There are such people, and as much as we can, we must protect our animals from falling prey into their hands.

ill bet just because some people are against the

"animal lovers" doesnt mean they are for torture, they are just irritated by the people who call the police on people for smoking near an animal...or somethin like that.

but if they are for torturing animals, sadly this is just 1 of the many MANY sad things people allow to occur in this world which as a individual person you or i have no control over. :(

hell women still dont have alot of rights in certain parts of the world

When I think of "Animal rights groups" I usually think of Peta and the "meat is murder" campaign.

If you define cruelty and torture as the infliction of pain for no other purpose I think you will find that most everyone agrees that is wrong.

If you define it as the killing of an animal for food, then you will be in a small minority.
