Where did the idea of Sunday worship come from?

I hear Sunday worshipers say that Jesus rose from the grave so they worship on Sunday. What's with that?

the church tried to change The Lord's Day Sabbath to sun day. as Daniel said they would "think to change times and laws" (Daniel 7:25) No one can actually change God's law, they only 'think' they were doing it. The converst catechism Doctrine pg. 50 tells us this"Question: which day is the Sabbath day?" Answer: Saturday is the Sabbath Day. Question: why do we observe sunday? Answer: because the church changed the day from Saturday to sunday.: There has been NO command from Jesus, the desciples, or in the Bible to keep any other day but the 7th Day Sabbath of Jesus. the RCC church however, has declared it is above the Bible and has established her own mark of authority and allegiance-a counterfeit Sabbath. "Of course, the Catholic church claims that the change was her act. And that act is a mark of her ecclesiastical power and authority in religious matters." James Cardinal Gibbons.

Another statement: Sunday is our mark of authority...the church is above the Bible, and this transferrence of the Sabbath observance is proof of that fact.: Catholic Record, London Ontario, Sept. 1, 1923. On May 31, 1998 John Paul II issued an Apostilic Letter called Dies Domini - The Lords Day. Section 67 says "Christians will naturally strive to ensure civil legislation respects their duty to keep sunday holy.

if this ISN'T APOSTASY at it's finest I know not what is.....Peace/Love God Bless & Happy Sabbath

Jesus stated that the time was coming/then was, when people would worship God in Spirit and in truth. Prior to that time, the people could only worship God in Jerusalem at the temple. In the early church, the Jewish Christians continued keeping the law, and as such, kept the sabbath by remaining at home on that day. The next day was a convenient day for all to gather together for corporate worship, either early in the morning before going off to work, or later in the evening when people were done working. No doubt some would have made an association between Sunday and the resurrection also. Regardless, it is a matter of Christian Liberty, that they were free to worship God now whenever and wherever they so desired.

The original Christians were Jews, who would meet at Synagogue on Saturday. However, they wanted their own things, like sharing the Communion, which the non-Christian Jews did not tolerate. They began meeting on Sundays - usually early in the morning before work. They would often meet again in the evening after work, to share a meal and the Communion/Eucharist. Eventually, they were kicked out of the Synagogues, but kept the Sunday practice. This was the day Jesus was resurrected, so Sundays were considered a "Little Easter."

Non Jewish Christians simply followed their Jewish comrades, and met on Sundays in the same way. I do not know when Sunday became THE day of worship (i.e., not a work day) though, but it would have been quite some time later - probably 4th century.

Roman Catholic Church introduced it and said that they had the authority to change God's official day of rest and worship from Saturday to Sunday. They said it is a MARK of their ecclesiastical power (notice the MARK of the Beast is about Worship). See their Cathechism.

God's day of rest is the SEVENTH, known as Saturday, proclamied as the Sabbath. It was NEVER EVER changed...don't believe those who do! See the Bible---it holds the truth! People like to hold to Romans 14 as proof of Sabbath change...but Paul is not stating a sabbath observance change! Even if HE WAS, the riots and quarrels and wars over the change would have filled the Jewish history of the time period.

Study the Word of God for yourself and you'll see that this worshipping and gathering on Sunday as the Lord's Day is unbiblical---contradictory to God's Word. Great question, and I pray you come to truth. Email for more.

Jesus died on Friday and rose on Sunday. We celebrate/worship on Sundays because of that. We can go to Mass on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings.

Sun worship, interestingly enough, came from Sun worship. YAHUSHUA rose from the grave at the 'dawn of the new week'. which is sun DOWN Saturday night.

God created the world in seven days. On the seventh day, he finished and rested. He blessed it and made it holy, and made it so that every person should rest and worship then.

Yes, it is because Jesus rose from the dead on that day.
