What was the first TV miniseries?

You know those few episodes that lasted a few weeks. The first I can remember was "Rich Man, Poor Man". Was there one before that?

    Yeah, it was one of the first ones... I checked on Roots, and it was 1977, Rich Man, Poor Man was in 1976.. I didnt find anything earlier yet... I am still looking

    thorn birds,roots and on pbs,poldark.also the sequel to gwtw,'scarlett".i would say my very favorite,however,was the brilliant pbs series starring derek jacobi,"i,claudius."recently re-watched thorn birds for the first time in many years and must say,my husband and i both thoroughly enjoyed it.the gr8 ones stand the test of time.
