Has anyone been to the Royal Armouries or Thackray Medical Museum in Leeds?
How long does it take to go round them thoroughly?
I don't tend to linger very long at exhibits but I like to see everything.
How much time would you recommend I leave for a visit to either one?

I have been to the Thackray Medical Museum. It's probably best if you've got children. It's worth a visit without children, but I'd say it's mostly aimed at children. You adopt a character and go around the museum as the character and see whether you survive various illness. I went there many times as a kid and never got bored of it! The Thackray takes maybe 2 - 3 hours, depending on whether you've got children. With children probably 3+ hours, without then 2+. It has a cafe and we always found it easy enough to get to. The sign posts are easy enough to follow. It's well worth a visit.
I've never been the the Royal Armouries so I can't say much about that, I know that's it's a place that's recommended by lots of people so it would be worth a visit I'm sure.
Have fun!

We have been to The Royal Armouries on quite a few occasions...it's really worth the visit. Quite honestly it depends on how interested you are in the exhibits and whether or not there are any "extra" exhibitions on as to how long it would take to go around it, whether you want to watch any of the outdoor displays (jousting, hawking etc) and whether you want to get something to eat as well, but on average it could take a good 2 to 3 hours to get a good feel of the museum.

also if you go on a trip on the open top bus it takes you around town and then you go on a barge out side the armouries. its only £7.
