Hair Metal band of the day (take 2)?

There are so many hair metal bands that were only able to get a couple albums out before having to call it quits. Most of these bands would have one very minor hit and then loose the support of the record label and get dumped because every label was looking for the next moneymaker and cared nothing for the music. I feel there were many very good bands that got overlooked due to the lack of support from their record label.

In my opinion, Tora Tora was one of those bands. They had their minor hit, Walkin' Shoes. Released a couple albums of blues-based, Led Zeppelin inspired hair metal. They only got to release two albums, the first three songs are from Surprise Attack and the last three from Wild America.

That was a great blast from the past. I hadn't heard Walkin' Shoes in a long time. Great songs.

MA2: I liked Steelheart and they kind of came in at the end of the glam/hair metal era and I think with Michael Matijevic's awesome voice and range, they really should have been bigger than they were. Some of their best songs were not radio hits. They did have more than 2 albums.

The only band I can think of at the moment that had 2 albums was Damn Yankees which was a combo of Nugent, Jack Blades, Tommy Shaw. I saw them in concert and they put on a great show.

BA: Depends on how far I'm walking, but 3 inch black patent leather heels...

  • ooooohhhh... Tora Tora.

You know.. I am only mildly familiar.. but the few tracks I heard were pretty dang good. I am doing a bunch of crap right now ( and coming late to the show to boot ) but WILL answer relatively soon I hope.

    MQ-

Goodness me... from the beginning of Walkin Shoes to the rock n rolla end of Shattered.. that bluesy southern rock guitar was nice.... made me want to grab a beer, kick back in a booth at a local club and listen.

    MQ2- ???? now I gotta think......

MQ3- Geeze Cheetah.. you trying to give some of guys Cardiac Arrhythmia? One of my co-workers at my old bookstore was a school teacher with a penchant for those..and stockings and a tight black leather skirt...... gah!

    *cold shower*

anyhow.. I'm pretty boring. Before my back injuries.. had a pair of black, silver buckled Walker motorcycle boots I wore pretty well everywhere. Still have them.. just can't really wear em... a shame to cuz they fit like a glove. Now it's pretty much always my Nike Air Geotec work boots.

Excellent links - I enjoyed those.

Skid Row was one of those Hair Bands that died with the 80's

There have been others - Looking Glass died in the early 70's after one album because there one hit "Brandy" was nothing like the hard rock they normally played and they failed to hold on to their audience.

MQ: I really like them, they remind me of a heavier Aerosmith kinda. I loved the intro riff to Dirty Secrets.

MQ2: If I remember correctly, Lost Horizon broke up after two albums

BQ: I just put on what ever shoes are out

*if you haven't heard them already, I recommend the band Helix, a good Canadian hair metal band
