vector questions (need to see all steps please)?
point a has vector cordinates (-10i-8j-8k) point b has vector cordinates (0i+12j-3k)
line 1 connects points a and b
point p lies on line 1
the orogin connects to point p so that it is perpendicular to line 1
fine the cordinates of point p
(also how would i do it if the orogin was anouther point (point T) say (1i,1j,1k) and TP was perpendicular to line 1)

Vector Line Equation
r = a + (b-a)t
r = {-10, -8, -8} + t{10, 20, 5}
The direction of line is {10, 20, 5} and the direction of OP = {-10+10t, -8+20t, -8+5t}
If perpendicular, dot product must be zero, so
10(-10+10t) + 20(-8+20t) + 5(-8+5t) = 0
t = 4/7
Substitute in vector line equation:
= {-10+10(4/7), -8+20(4/7), -8+5(4/7)}
