Barometers, both mercurial and aneroid, show the same pressure inside as outside even with air conditioning on. The ideal spot to mount a barometer is on an internal wall. That is a wall inside the house not the inside of a structural wall. If you check the barometers in any meteorological office, that is where they will be mounted.

An analog barometer will show the exact same pressure inside as it would outside. An analog barometer is the type of barometer that uses a needle which moves with the different atmospheric pressures. Inside the analog barometer is a metal box called the cell. This cell is a complex mechanism of bellows and springs that expands or contracts with the changing air pressure. Both mercurial and analog barometers display pressure changes under the same principles.

It may and it may not. Having sailed all my life on small yachts, I know that a barometer inside the cabin can be subject to lower or higher pressure due to the ventilation inside the cabin. For example, sailing toward the wind (close hauling) may show a different pressure than sailing with the wind (reaching or running).

Likewise, the pressure inside a house may vary according to the wind outside and if windows or doors are open. For example, a window open on the other side of the the wind direction, will most probably lower the barometric reading.

How it works around you house is a very complex matter. Today, I have given up sailing for flying small aircraft and, after installing an air-cooled engine in my aircraft, I know how little it takes to change the air flow around an object.

But, if there is no wind at all, outside, the barometric pressure, inside, should be the same as outside.
