    Word can read Wordpad files directly. Try this:

    1. In Word, press CTRL/O to bring up the Open dialog box.

    2. In Word 2007, set the list box over the Open and Cancel buttons to Rich Text Format (.rtf). In earlier Word versions, set the Files of Type list box the same way.

    3. Navigate to the directory with the Wordpad document.

    4. Select and open it.

    5. Do a Save As in either of these two ways:

    In Word 2007:

    1. Click the round Office button in the upper-left corner of the window.

    2. Click the Save As->Word Document menu item.

    In earlier Word versions:

    1. Click File->Save As.

    2. Set the Save As Type list box to Word Document.

    Note that either of these will not affect the original document in any way. They will create a second document of the right type.

    Hope that helps.

    Word pad is a VERY limited version of MS Word. Word pad was made for windows 95 and was never updated since then. Anyway, your 60 day trial hasn't been started yet. In case you're interested, there are keygens out there that will allow you to use MS Word forever. These are illegal, though, and some come with viruses, so use at your own risk.
