No. It is because so few participated in it that the addition of a few more players equals a huge increase percentage wise..

Personally I am not a fan, but in America, I believe NASCAR is the fastest growing sport. And all you Europeans who are all about soccer think that Beckham dude will bring soccer into America's most favorite sports...you are so wrong. Americans believe soccer to be a whimp's sport and the opposite of football (unquestionably the most popular sport in America). Kids play soccer today just to be able to do something. Lacrosse is also fast growing and i guess rugby, paintball, and if you can count poker as a sport are also among the fastest growing sports in America.

There is a lot of truth to what you ask. But the facts are that baseball, football and basketball are mature sports in the U.S. and therefore not growing more than the population does but millions upon millions more people watch and participate in these sports than they do or ever will in soccer. Truth is, that Canadian thing where you rub the ice with a stick may be faster growing in the U.S. than soccer. The town I live in about three months ago completed a soccer complex for kids with six fields. To date, one team has had one practice on those six fields. What a waste of money.

I don't know... when I drive past the soccer fields on saturday, they are more full than the baseball fields... and it's all white kids out there playing mostly... from what I can tell?

NO. It is because the whole world plays that sport and the US was behind. They want to be in with the rest of the world and of course there is the money part, too.
