Husky/Lab mix questions?
I have a few questions and I have no clue what to do as she is very very stubborn and will pretty much only listen to me even though she just loves people in general.
1 How can I get her to calm down, I have twins on the way and don't want her accidentally hurting them.
2 How do I get her to stop peeing every time she gets scared or excited?
3 Right now my parents have her as my husband is military and the place we rent does not allow pets, how will she be when we take her and she isn't around their dog anymore?
4 How do we get her to listen to my husband and my 5 year old.
5 Shedding. Her fur is everywhere, how do i get it to stop?
She really is a sweet dog she just has some issues. She would never purposely hurt anyone without feeling that they were a threat to her or her family and she loves kids. Shes not dumb by any means just very stubborn. Shes the type of dog that will give you her bone when you tell her to and shes a great companion.

I have a boxer/eskimo mix that started with some of the same issues.
1. Make sure she gets enough exercise daily. Learn to not reward unwanted excited behavior such as jumping on u to greet, don't pay any attention until she is calm n relaxed (very hard at first)
2. Haven't really dealt with this issue, sorry. Id suggest researching proper training methods
3. Should be fine as long as she gets excerise and attention. Maybe visit dog parks if ud like to see her play with other dogs.
4. Most of the time its the people who need training not the dog. Educate urself and family on certain methods ud like to use and make sure everyone is in it together. There is no good cop bad cop, everyone should react the same.
5. I am assuming she has long fur, so she should be brushed weekly, and if possible professionally groomed once a month or two if u want to stretch it. A shorter hair cut could help.
Hope this helped alittle. There are plenty of places to find help training dogs online, bookstores, shelters or local classes. Many times its the owner who needs more training then the actual dog, and don't take offense, many treat dogs as if they have human emotions and rationals when this simple is not the case.

You can get some special dog brushes that can get out most of the shedding fur, before it sheds. You can find some good ones online, like on amazon.com or you can go on ehow.com, it has tips how and what to use to stop your dog from shedding as much. As, for taking her away from your parent's dog, she might, or might not be okay with it. It depends on if shes really attached or not. Some dogs go through major depression when there other dog companion has passed away, or been sold or taken to a new home. Where as other dogs are happy to be back with their owners. If shes not listening to you, you could take her to a dog obedience class. If you don't want to do that, then just remember, don't call her name too much or she will just stop responding to it, use a calm, and clear voice when telling your dog to do something. Right now, you should focus on getting her to respond to you and your husband, because I don't think that your five year old will be able to train her....wait until your five old is older. If your dog jumps up on you, get her off, and let her know that what she did was bad, and don't pet her straight after wards, or she will think that it was okay. And make sure to give her enough exercises everyday, and she'lll be more tried out and less energetic. And, as for the peeing when excited or nervous, theres a website that I really suggest you look at, called www.diamonsintheruff.com/submwetting.html I hope that this helped :)

EXERCISE!!! Trust me take her on at least two walks a day a jog does really really well. When I say walk I mean one 30 min walk and another hour walk. Believe me she will calm down sooo much. Another thing I have found with mine is she loves her kiddie pool. Just sit in the back yard with a hose with a sprayer and let her jump around in the pool while you spray her. Most of the problems my "huskador" had stemmed from too little exercise. These dogs have enough energy to run and swim for hours and hours so if they don't get their release bad bad problems come. As for shedding get a soap free oatmeal dog shampoo (petsmart) and wash her often and brush her before and after. Everybath. Also if you have a vaccuum with a hose vaccuum her everday it works wonders! Good luck I'm 8 months pregnant and I have her all ready for baby so don't worry it can be done. Just have some patience.
