Help with fleas...............................?

My dog and cats (who dont go outside) have fleas, which are now in my house. They are all treated with flea medicine. Is there anything else I can do?

The most effective means of controlling fleas in your home is to treat ALL dogs and cats in your home with a topical flea/tick preventative for three months. This will effectively kill off all of the adults and larva immediately, then eliminate the newly hatched larva when they hatch from the eggs that are probably in your carpet. My recommendation would be to use flea/tick preventative from your vet, because those are the safest and most effective.

To help speed up the process, wash all their bedding (normal hot water and soap is fine), vacuum, and steam clean your carpets if you can. If your animals sleep in your beds or on your furniture, wash/vacuum/clean it all as best as you can, but if you use the topical treatment for three months, it'll take care of them either way.

In the future, I would just keep up with your monthly topical preventative for all of your animals, otherwise you're just going to keep going through this.

We just had a problem with fleas a few days ago. We bought the Raid fumigator. It comes in a 3 pack at Wal Mart for 11 bucks. Its in the pesticides isle by the cleaning products and the bug sprays.

It comes with 3, so you can do it 3 times if it didn't work the first time. You must leave your home for 2-4 hours and take all pets out of the house for this time too.. if you have fish tanks, cover those up completely so the gas can't get in. Close all food pantry's/cabinets too.

We did this once a few days ago, and it worked like a charm. We also bathed our 2 dogs and 1 cat in a flea/tick shampoo. I mean we DRENCHED them in this shampoo and let it sit on them for a good 15 minutes before rinsing them off. We also went ahead and purchased the rug powder (the brand was Hartz) from Wal Mart (pet isle) and let that sit in the carpet for 20 minutes or so before vacuuming it up.

after doing all of this, we haven't seen 1 flea yet!

If all of that didn't work, we were going to get an exterminator.

Good luck. Fleas are horrible! 1 of the downfalls of being a pet parent.

Oh, Plz never ever put flea collars on your pets.. they KILL pets. if the dog/cat licks the collar, they will get deahtly ill and can die. (the substance on the collar is posion)

Also, Revolution is the BEST flea drops you can buy. They are one of the higher dollar ones, but SO worth it in the long run!.. The ones you can buy at Wal mart (hartz and a few other brands) are garbage in my opinion.

And, the previous answer was correct in saying to wash all linens/towels/pet beds and blankets/etc. Wash them in HOT water... but do this LAST after the fumigator/bathing the animals/vacuuming the floor.
