What is the proper etiquette for gum chewing in public?

I dont understand why people not only chew gum with their mouths open, but also snap crack and pop gum. What's the point?

Gum chewing generally is not polite to do in public. It falls under the food etiquette guidelines in that you don't chew with your mouth open and do not talk with food in your mouth. Chewing gum by its very nature causes these rules to be violated. No one wants to see your mangled wad of gum lolling around in your mouth as you;re trying to speak while intermittently chewing it. It's completely grotesque. Then there are the trashy boors who spit it out on the ground so that others can step in it. It should be placed in the trash, and if there is none available at the time, wrap it in tissue or a scrap of paper until you find one.

have you ever seen a cow chewing curd, grass or weeds? that's what it appears like once you chew gum. in case you pop your gum, even interior your mouth, is amazingly disrespectful to every person around you.
