If you are in a band that writes and preforms your own original music....?
what's the songwriting process like? Does one person do all the writing? Does someone start with a hook or beat or melody and everybody adds to it? Do you just jam until it clicks? Do people get mad if the end song is different than the original song? Who decides the final version? What about lyrics? Does music come first or lyrics come first? How does your band make your songs?

i don't like to think of writing as an ordered operation. how it's worked for me is you can either show your band mates an idea you've come up with, then have them try to throw something on top of. just as well you can listen to their ideas and give a little feedback of your own. that's always a great place to start. anyones idea has potential to become the foundation of a new track. and when it comes to actually agreeing on a final piece it might be best to have a unanimous decision, unless one of your mates just naturally tries to take creative control, which be warned has been the end of a few of my projects.
or if your comfortable enough with free improvisation, you can try just jamming until every one is on the same page. from experience, it takes a bit of work to understand how each member tends to think when it comes to writing and improvising, but my best material has come from jams. it also helps jamming along with your mates, as it gives you a starting point or something to work off of.
another tip, just relax. ideas tend to flow better when you are.

a little motto i like to live my musical life by, i hope it means something to you.

all of the above, sometimes one person writes almost the whole song, sometimes we collaborate, sometimes people will do sections, sometimes we start with drum other lyrics or guitar etc... and we disagreed a lot, the final version was based on what we all decided to agree on.... i recommend doing it in sections, somebody writes a part say on guitar or drums that they like and maybe gives some recommendations for what the others should do, but give them enough room to create what they think sounds good.... after a while you start to get connected and things will just "click" and you will know what's good
