Can someone knowledgeable about kittens- help me please?

My man & I just got 2 kittens today from his friend! They are so lovable and so beautiful but Mily (the sister)

(OH before I go on, they are 3 mos old - about)

but Mily - she has a real big tummy... I could of sworn I felt something poke out of her stomach where my hand was. I pushed back a little bit, not to hurt her (if it did, I made sure to be careful) but she twitched. She keeps farting too... and it's nasty lol....

Not sure whats up..... she also wakes up freaking out... and has to reposition herself a lot.

Milo (the brother)

the only issue with him that I can see is that one eye is regular sized and the other eye can only open like - half way. Nothings swollen, puffy, discolored or anything.

??????

Also had 1 more concern.... we want to take them both to the vet... but will the vet require us to get them licensed or something? This week we have a limited amount of $ but yet at the same time I don't want Mily to be in pain....

Update:

Also Mily cries bloody murder when we pick her up and our hands are around her stomach....

If it's worms.... can it be spread if she sleeps with me? She gets so unhappy away from us... :(

It sounds like your kittens already have some problems a vet needs to look at. You will have to find out how serious they are. There may be some free clinics that will take a look to tell you what to expect to have to do for them. If you can't afford the expenses for the first basic examination and shots, you may find help at the rescue societies or a vet willing to extend credit over time. If this is still too much, it may be best to give them up so they can be helped by someone else.

    1. It could be her cord or belly button that was sticking out.

    2. Cat food can cause those raunchy farts that make you want to put on a gas mask. Change their dry food to Friskies or a top brand. Cheap brands make for a smelly house, plus you should give kitty vitamins when feeding cheap food as they do not have the nutrients that the high price ones have,

    3. She could be having nightmares or she may be in pain. Perhaps playing with her brother, he may have gotten to rough or in your friends house someone may have scared her. Perhaps someone in your friends family mistreated her.

    4. Cats can be allergic to things and get colds in the eyes really easy. It's important to get and keep the eye clean daily or even after naps. If the eye is allowed to remain closed or partially closed it could lead to high vet bills - my vet bill for 2 kittens was over $700 and after 4 months of treatment began they both died.

    5. No, the vet can not get you to buy a license for your cat, most towns do not license a cat - just dogs.

    6. Keep your hands off her stomach till you find out what is wrong.

    7. Make her a little bed in a shoe box bottom and set it either on the floor by you or on the night stand near you.

    8. Here is a great site to learn more abut kittens - http://www.petplace.com/cats.aspx?gclid=CIKj4cbaq6...

Maybe the poor kitten has got roundworms,, that could give them a big tummy and pain. And most kittens get them from nursing if their mother wasnt treated. She needs to get treated right away because a bad infection can even kill a kitten. It takes 2 and sometimes 3 treatments to get rid of them. (because they are in different stages in the body and the medicine does not affect all stages)

There are over the counter meds but considering her symptoms of pain etc it is best you do take her in to the vet. Plus you can ask what's going on with Milo's eye. maybe a birth defect or maybe the result of an infection when he was a baby.. Hopefully it is nothing that will affect him much.

roundworms is not something that you would get from her. it is not infectious from fresh feces, it has to be out in the environment for a month or more. The cases of human infection have been for the most part small children who have been playing in dirt or sand containing old dried dog or cat feces with infectious roundworm eggs, have got some of it in dirt on their fingers and then put their fingers in their mouth. Apparently it is usually the dog version they get.

Ringworm that someone mentioned (which despite its name is nothing to do with a worm; it's a fungus) is contagious between animals and humans. An animal with it gets scaly patches of skin with fur missing. which does not sound like what you described.

If it was down low on her abdomen that you felt something seemed to stick out, I wonder could it have been her belly button ? Or if it was up more toward her chest (but still on the bottom side of her when standing) it could be the xiphoid process. it is the little bit of cartilage at the end of the sternum (breastbone) that in some cases is curved. if it curves out it is better than if it curves in too much and presses on organs. but it can protrude a bit. It would be similar to what you described, that you could push it back. Usually it is not a big deal. Sometimes if kittens (or athletic human kids) are playing very hard they can fracture it . but then it should just heal. just see what the vet says.

you need to get them their shots for the common cat diseases but of course for Mily wait until she is better

There might be a low income clinic that does shots along with spaying / neutering for a low fee. some places have funds set up to help pay , sometimes it is remarkably cheap or even have free days etc. Call to rescue ctrs etc. in your area. or Google "low cost spay neuter" and your location.

On the license thing, I dont know where you are but I very much doubt it. Vets do not agree with being put in that position because it discourages people from going to the vet even when their pets are really ill . So if your local authority has some law requiring cats to be licensed, at the most the vet might mention it

It is very important that you get these kittens to the vet as soon as possible. I am not sure where you are, but some towns require you to register your animals. For the health of your animals, you absolutely MUST take them to a vet.

Milo could have an eye infection or a herpes infection of the eye (these are really common in some types of cats) that could have been spread from the mother.

And as far as Milly, she could absolutely have worms and they can kill her if not treated because she could get so full of them that her intestines could burst and she could become septic. It is a very painful and cruel death.

Also, you can absolutely get ringworm from sleeping with her. Ringworms are apain to get rid of too. I got them from a roommates cat and it took almost 9 months to get rid of. At first I had to try an over the counter topical antifungal cream twice a day for a month. When that didn't work, I had to use a prescription strength one. Finally I had to take oral medicine for over two months. I got one reoccurance and had to do it all over again a few months later. Good luck!

Im not sure about the kittens issues, but i do know that they will not make you get them licensed then they will send you a post card with information about doing that.
