My Hair Metal band of the day (take 9)?

For every popular band in the hair metal scene there were a dozen other bands that was supposed to be the next best thing which never got the recognition they deserved. Some of these bands that did not make it was because they refused to jump through every hoop the record companies set up for them, stick to their guns and produce the albums they wanted to and not worry so much about the next "hit".

Black 'N Blue was one of those bands that were supposed to be the next big success but fell short. They had a fairly loyal fan base but none of their music really had any commercial success. They actually made their recording debut on the second pressing of the first Metal Massacre compilation which was released in 1984, the first song highlighted it that song. Note: Tommy Thayer (guitarist) is currently the guitarist for Kiss and Jamie St. James (singer) would record one album with Warrent.

MA: Once again, a completely new band. And once again great stuff. :D

Like the guitar works. And the vocals are really nice too.

The first song didn't seem similar to the typical glam metal songs. More hard rock than glam. Pretty good.

Not the high pitch glam vocals but real nice nonetheless.

'Hold on to 18' - Loved this one. My pick of the tracks. Really good intro. Good buildup to the solo and real nice solo as well, though a little too short.

The 'ballad' was quite good too. Really melodious. Liked it very much. Good, relaxing tempo.

Nasty Nasty was more aggressive than the rest. Good riffs. Decent song.

The last song was awesome too. Far removed from the generic glam. Once again felt the hard rock vibe. That AC/DC feel. :D

MA2: Marty Friedman? Cacophony to Megadeth to successful solo project.

Love Hold On To 18, Nasty Nasty, and Get Wise To The Rise. Man they sure had a lot of hair, lol. I miss the 80s. I like Without Love and Wicked B*tch too.

    MA2: Ronnie James Dio

    BA: Chicken salad.

I can not think of a band that has put together as long a career (33 years) and has been given less credit and as little recognition as Riot. I have nine of their CDs including this one and none of them are bad, I would actually rank most of them quite high. MQ2: There are bands from every genre that have vocals that annoy me. I do find some of the vocals from the NWOBHM annoying as well but probably not to the extent that you seem to. BQ: 1983
