Is he going through a growth spurt, how old is he? Babies go through growth spurts where they will nurse almost constantly for 3-5 days normally.

You might have a constant nurser. My son was this way. He would nurse for an hour and I'd be lucky if I could put him down for 15 minutes before wanting to nurse again.

He might be a comfort nurser, not because he's hungry but because it makes him feel better.

Formula "satisfies" baby because it's very hard for baby's tummy to digest.

My baby was a quick nurser... Like 15 min. And she was ready to go. Does your baby fall asleep while breast feeding? Does he/ she stop sucking while breastfeeding? If so, tickle his/ her cheek and this should make your baby continue nursing. Also, they shouldn't be wrapped up and all cozy because that's just too inviting for them to take another nap, and you want them to make sure they get enough milk so no blanket while nursing ( make sure the babies not colder either of course!) Also, some babies are just slower than others, but she'll/he'll stop when he she is finished. or maybe she he likes to take breaks in between nursing, after all it is kinda difficult to suck and can get tiring so just stay patient and know your doing a good job! If it continues, ask his or her doc. they really have some good tips as well...

When you breastfeed, the first milk that comes out is called the FORE MILK. It is a thirst quenching milk, and does not fill the baby up . Appx 5-10 mins later, HIND milk comes, it is thicker and creamier and fills the baby's tummy.

From experience, with breastfeeding 3 children, I found it best if I used one breast for each feeding and then the other breast on the next feeding. With my first baby, I didn't know much about breastfeeding, and she fed very often, just like with you, but with experience, I found what works best for baby and me. I hope this was helpful!

  • In the very early days it will seem as though baby is constantly on the breast, this is because they are trying to build up your supply. Don't offer bottles or it will affect your supply and you will make less milk than you need. You should be falling into a more regular nursing schedule after about 10 days or so, once your milk is in fully.

Try to nurse while you lay on the bed, tummy to tummy with baby. You can snooze or watch a movie at the same time.

I observed the canopy of Time and an interview with the mum on the immediately tutor, the theory of this entire philosophy is bonding. they suspect in continuously having your infant in a mommy sling on the point of you., never letting an infant merely cry it out and contained in the kinfolk mattress. the female interviewed has an older newborn who pronounced he began "self weaning: at age 4 and is hoping the three year previous will do likewise. i replaced into once in a public progression in a crowded waiting room. a lady with a gentle newborn replaced into appearing fussy. She presented loudly sufficient for all 40 human beings to hearken to " What Honey? you want a tit*y?" i replaced into a great deal taken aback that she not in ordinary words proclaimed this for all to hearken to yet honestly breast fed the newborn in the front of all of us. This replaced right into a professional ecosystem! i'd be more advantageous than slightly disconcerted if at the same time as having my taxes finished, my agent replaced into breastfeeding. i'm for breast feeding. it is organic and healthful yet i imagine discretion and privateness for both mom and newborn should be observed. There should be an age ( each and each newborn is diverse) at the same time as separation starts. the youngster ought to study mom & I are literally not one. we are separate.

First month you have to give baby your milk every time he cry. If you feel he is a bit heavy and his nappy is wet and dirty then you will know he is feeding enough. I assure you after it will be better much better.

    Disagree with the first person.

In the early days I was told to offer each breast to my baby, then express for 10 minutes each side, then top my baby up with formula until I was producing enough milk.

Once you build up a supply of expressed milk this can then supplement the top up instead of using formula.

If your baby is still hungry why would you not allowed it more milk of some description, that is just cruel!
