ASL interpreting songs from a foreign language?
What should I do when interpreting a children's puppet show into American Sign Language, when the performer is singing in a language I don't know? I have tried just sitting there, holding one hand in the other and maybe swaying my shoulders. That felt stupid and stiff. I also tried putting a puppet or stuffed animal in my lap and having it wave or clap its hands. That was awkward when the lyrics switched back to English or the song was over and I had to start interpreting again. I have asked the producer/performer for an English translation of the songs so I can put them into ASL, but I'm not sure if that will be a good answer either.
Thanks for any suggestions and extra thanks for any solid, industry-standard guidelines.
I know that there are lots of different sign languages. I'm only using one sign language, and that's ASL. The problem is that the words I'm interpreting from are in a different language.

You will have to use English Translations or ask someone who speaks the languages to accompany you, but each sign language has a different way of expressing things, they all aren't the same as ASL signs.

Paint it Black - Marie LaForet How Can I Live (Spanish) - sick Nino Ba I dont fairly like taking note of songs that i dont recognise the lyrics, in general on the grounds that I concentrate to track extra for the lyrics than whatever else, i imply i like well guitars and drums and such, however I just like the lyrics to make feel and feature a a few kind of message that i will have an understanding of with no need to translate it.
