What advice do you have for a Northerner moving to Texas?

Good morning!

So I have lived in Massachusetts for the first 20 years of my life. I really dislike it here, and most places in the North. I don't like how people are very rude, always in a rush, mostly liberals, and I HATE the snow.

I've been trying to figure out where I'd like to relocate to. I had been looking at North Carolina, but I was told that they still get a large amount of snow during the winter. I want to avoid the cold. I thrive in the heat.

So, any native Texans or people who have moved there, any info on what the quality of life is like? Is it cheap (rent wise)? Are people friendly? Will I get made fun of because of my funny Boston accent? lol

just any thoughts on Texas would be helpful...thank you all very much!!!

Move to the Rio Grande Valley; it rarely gets cold, the people are extremely friendly, there are all kinds of activities, plus affordable restaurants. I recommend renting, because of the convenience.
